MHS members’ event
Back at very short notice, after our originally booked speaker discovered he had double booked himself, is the very popular Sophie Leathart from Curtisden Green.

Sophie has been a free-lance florist for 30 years having trained at Moyses Stevens in London working at The Inn on the Park Hotel and the Claremont Club. She uses seasonal flowers and foliage taking inspiration from walks around her home, working mainly in the South East and London but has recently decorated Canongate Kirk and Oxenfoord Castle in Edinburgh.

For the past two years, she has turned her mind to all things horticultural becoming RHS qualified. She gardens, grows plants and runs a cutting garden. Particulaly interested in irises, in 2017 she took on the job of setting up the Cayeux Iris display for Chelsea and managed to secure a Gold Medal.

Tonight Sophie is going to create sustainable arrangements not using floral foam. One will be totally compostable and others will use alternatives to floral foam to create flowers for the festive season.

Competition: Seasonal Table Decoration (£20 voucher to the winner).
